Three dead in road mishaps



KATHMANDU: Three persons died in separate road accidents that occurred in Sunsari and Kailali districts last night.

Two youths died after a bus (Province 102001 Kha 8196) hit a motorcycle (Ko 27 Pa 219) from the opposite direction at Panipiya forest of Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City-20 in Sunsari district.

The deceased are identified as 22-year-old Abi Rai of Sankhuwasabha district and Santosh Rai, 27, of Morang district, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Narendra Kumar Karki said.

Karki said that seriously injured in the road accident, the two breathed their last in BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) in Dharan while receiving treatment.

Police have held bus driver Tikaram Chaudhary, 44, after the incident.

Meanwhile, a tractor knocked a pedestrian to death at Dhanchauri of Godavari Municipality-9 in Kailali district. Karan Bhattarai, 40, of Krishnapur Municipality in Kanchanpur district died in the incident, the police said.
