NBI to hold 4th Responsible Business Conference in December 2022



KATHMANDU: The National Business Initiative (NBI) is set to hold its fourth Responsible Business Conference in December 2022.

The decision to hold the conference was taken at the 15th Annual General Meeting of NBI held in Kathmandu.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairman of the organization Kush Kumar Joshi said that the private sector has played an important role in strengthening the economy of the nation.

He expressed his gratitude to the organization for its support for the past decade and a half in maintaining law and order, promoting responsible business and entrepreneurship, creating a conducive environment for doing business, and providing necessary policies and legislation.

Inaugurating the program, Minister of State Umesh Shrestha said that he was always ready to work hand in hand with the private sector to strengthen the country’s economy through inclusive social and economic development. He expressed his gratitude for the commendable work done by NBI to date.

General Secretary of the organization Surendra Bir Malakar presented the progress report of the fiscal year 2077/78 and put forward the plan to hold the fourth edition of the ‘National Responsible Business Conference’ in December 2022.

Apart from this, continuing the institutional social responsibility activities, he presented the details of the distribution of oxygen cylinders to hospitals during COVID-19 pandemic.

Under the year-long development project, the anti-human trafficking campaign, study, and strategy, including policy reforms, and arrangements required for the rehabilitation of small, home-based micro and medium enterprises affected by the pandemic, code of conduct on workplace violence and abuse and workshops on social security funds were clarified.

He also briefed about the recent projects of organization centered on disaster risk reduction and disaster management. Treasurer of the organization Deepak Kumar Malhotra presented the financial report for the fiscal year 2077/78.

All have unanimously passed the report submitted by the Secretary-General and the Treasurer.

Speaking at the end of the program, the founding Chairperson of the organization Padam Jyoti expressed happiness over the completion of the 15-year journey of the National Business Initiative by embracing the basic premise that a society cannot be strong and prosperous without successful business.

Jyoti concluded the meeting by thanking the participants and guests, emphasizing the need for the entire private sector to create a conducive business environment.
