Rathor of Deuba panel elected NC joint general secretary

Eight joint general secretaries elected



KATHMANDU: Kishor Singh Rathor has been elected as the joint general minister of Nepali Congress (NC) from the Khas-Arya cluster. Rathor defeated Devraj Chalise in the vote count held Friday.

According to NC Election Committee, Rathor got 2,576 votes while Chalise got 2,559 votes. Rathor filed candidacy from NC President Sher Bahdur Deuba’s panel and Chalise from Dr. Shekhar Koirala’s panel.

Similarly, Badri Pandey has also been elected to the post of joint general secretary representing backward region. Pandey of Koirala panel defeated Karnali Chief Minister Jeevan Bahadur Shahi of Deuba panel. Pandey got 2,411 votes against Shahi’s 2,133 votes.

Mahendra Yadav has been elected to the post from Madhesi cluster.

Likewise, Umakanta Chaudhary and Farmullah Mansur are elected the party’s joint general secretaries from Tharu and Muslim clusters respectively.

Mahalaxmi ‘Dina’ Upadhyaya, Bhishma Raj Angdembe (Deuba panel) and Jeevan Pariyar (Koirala panel) were elected as joint general secretaries from women’s, adivasi and dalit clusters respectively on Thursday.

With this, 13 office bearers of the party have been finalized.
