Will work towards making NC a trustworthy political force: Dr. Shekhar Koirala

KATHMANDU: Influential leader of Nepali Congress (NC) Dr. Shekhar Koirala has said that he would continue to work to make the party trustworthy and a political force for a change.

He has also thanked the delegates for supporting him despite his defeat in the presidential race in the party’s 14th General Convention.

Issuing a statement Friday, Koirala congratulated Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on his election as party President and wished him a successful tenure.

“Hopefully, the NC will not be too enthusiastic or discouraged by the outcome of the vote. Taking the victory and defeat of the party in the internal elections as natural, we will continue to be active in the agenda of transformation of the Congress party,” he said.

He has also expressed his commitment to make NC the largest party by reaching the doorsteps of the party workers as the election environment is about to begin.

“The national election campaign will begin on the day after the results of the party’s 14th general convention,” Koirala said.
