Khadka and Gurung elected NC vice presidents

Seven were in the fray for two posts



KATHMANDU: Purna Bahadur Khadka and Dhanraj Gurung have been elected to the post of Nepali Congress Vice President.

While Khadka is the candidate from the oarty President of Sher Bahadur Deuba camp, Gurung is close to Shekhar Koirala.

Deuba has already been elected as the Nepali Congress President.

Another candidate, Vijay Kumar Gachchhadar, lost by a narrow margin.

NC leaders Purna Bahadur Khadka, Bijay Kumar Gachhadhar, Dhanraj Gurung, and Chandra Bhandari were the front-runners.

According to NC Election Committee, the counting of votes for the post of vice president was held in three different places at the party office, Sanepa, Kathmandu.

There were seven candidates vying for two posts of vice-president in the NC.

Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar and Purna Bahadur Khadka were contesting the vice presidency from the panel of President Sher Bahadur Deuba; Dhanraj Gurung and Chandra Bhandari from the panel of Dr. Shekhar Koirala; Sujata Koirala from the panel of Prakash Man Singh and Divyeshwari Sah from the panel of Bimalendra Nidhi.

Similarly, Mahesh Acharya was also in the fray.
