PM Deuba lauds KU’s role in educational development and producing skilled human resources

KAVRE: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has commended the “important” role played by Kathmandu University (KU) in educational development and in producing skilled human resources.

PM Deuba said so in a congratulatory message to the KU and its graduates on the 27th convocation ceremony at Dhulikhel in Kavrepalanchowk district Wednesday. Deuba viewed that KU, to some extent, had helped address the pressing concerns of the country such as skilled resources crunch, brain drain and disconnection between skills and education.

The PM, who is also Chancellor of KU, extended his congratulations to the KU faculty members, founders and students on completing three decades.

The message reads, “We need skilled human resources that are equipped with scientific and technical knowledge to vitalize the country’s economy and to strengthen the democratic system in the country.” Deuba spoke of the need to create enabling environment to develop quality education in the country and to utilize the billions of rupees paid by the Nepali students to foreign universities annually.

According to him, KU had done a great job by producing skilled human resources in various sectors. “Apart from producing skilled human resources, it is equally vital to transform the youth into a good patriotic citizen. I believe the University has paid attention towards this as well,” he said.

A total of 1,449 students from various faculties are officially being graduated from the university.
