KATHMANDU: Leader Meen Bishwakarma, who was nominated as a central member in the 14th General Convention of the Nepali Congress (NC), has withdrawn his candidature on Sunday.

Writing a letter to NC Election Committee, leader Bishwakarma announced the withdrawal of his candidacy for the post of central member.

Bishwakarma, who was about to run for office from the panel of NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba, was not included in the team. He wanted to run for the post of open central member after his aspiration for the post of General Secretary or Joint General Secretary was not addressed by the party leadership.

Finally, he had registered his nomination for the central member from the Dalits quota on Saturday.

NC has allocated five posts for Dalit candidates under open central member category. 27 candidates have registered their name for the contest.

The deadline for withdrawal of nominations was 11 am.
