Mahottari Constituency 3 NC delegates not to participate in 14th General Convention

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) representatives of Mahottari Constituency No. 3 will not be able to participate in the 14th General Convention of the party due to intraparty dispute.

According to sources, the dispute between the factions led by Prime Minister and party President Sher Bahadur Deuba and senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel resulted in making Mahattori 3 sans participation in the mega event of the party.

“As the dispute has not been resolved, the regional convention will be held here only after the general convention,” said district president Mahendra Raya.

Earlier, NC Central Election Committee (CEC) had canceled the certificates distributed to all the delegates including the regional president after the regional convention held on December 1 came under dispute.

Polling Officer Dhirendra Mandal had resigned on December 4 alleging that the convention was rigged and the certificates were forcibly signed.

The regional representative’s certificate was revoked on the basis of his statement and the report of Election Officer Indra Bahadur Adhikari.

After Mandal’s resignation, CEC appointed Hem Bahadur Karki as the polling officer for the re-convention; however, Karki also resigned three days ago after the disputing sides failed to reach an agreement on the convention.
