Contact tracing in 66 people shows no Omicron transfer in others in Nepal

KATHMANDU: The reports of 66 people who came in contact with Omicron infected two foreign nationals have come negative.

Nepal confirmed two cases of Omicron variant of coronavirus on December 5.

According to Dr. Roshan Pokharel, Secretary at the Ministry of Health and Population, the 66 people who came to Nepal with the people who were identified as Omicron infected, tested negative.

Secretary Dr Pokhrel urged the people not to overcrowd and adopt health measures as the Omicron virus has already been identified in the country.

Earlier, MoHP issued a press statement on Monday morning and disclosed that a 66-year-old foreigner and a 71-year-old man who came in contact with him tested Omicron positive.

According to World Health Organization (WHO), Omicron variant has already reached in 36 countries including Nepal.
