NC Province Convention: Nomination being filed in all seven provinces today, election tomorrow



KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) is making preparations to file nominations of candidates including president in all the seven provinces today.

Prime Minister Deuba on Thursday inaugurated province conventions of six provinces virtually at one go.

The inauguration, however,  could not take place in Province 1. According to Krishna Prasad Sitaula, the inauguration is taking place this morning and the nomination will begin from 9 am.

Both Deuba and Poudel panels are competing in the province convention. Deuba panel has backed Uddhav Thapa of Krishna Prasad Sitaula panel as the president in Province 1.

Poudel faction is fielding Gururaj Ghimire, a central working member of the Nepali Congress, as the president in Province 1.

Indra Baniya from Deuba panel, Jagadishwar Narsingh KC from Poudel panel, and Bhimsen Das Pradhan from Sitaula panel are in the fray for the post in Bagmati.

Similarly, Arjun Joshi from Deuba panel, and Shukraraj Sharma from Poudel panel are competing for the post in Gandaki Pradesh.

In Lumbini, lawmaker Bharat Shah from Deuba panel and Amar Singh Pun Magar from Poudel panel are competing for the post.

Likewise, Lalitjung Shahi from Deuba panel and Bhupendra Jang Shahi from Poudel panel are competing for the post in Karnali.

Deuba and Poudel panel are making preparations to elect the leadership through consensus in Sudurpashchim.
