Nepal beats Bhutan in ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Asia qualifier



KATHMANDU: Nepal has defeated Bhutan in the Asia selection of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. Nepal defeated Bhutan by 8 wickets in the tournament being played in UAE on Tuesday.

Nepal reached the target of 62 runs set by Bhutan in 8.3 overs, with eight wickets still in hand.

Sita Rana Magar hit 17 runs for Nepal. Captain Rubina Chhetri was run out after hitting 10 runs. Likewise, Indu Burma collected 26 runs with a not-out status.

Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, Bhutan had made 61 runs by losing six wickets. Openers Nawang and Sonam Paldan made 13 and 11 runs respectively for Bhutan. Other batsmen could barely collect runs in double digits.

Nepal’s Sita Ranamagar took 3 wickets while bowling against the opponent. Similarly, Bhutan’s two batsmen were run out when Karuna Bhandari took one wicket.

Now, Nepal will play against Kuwait in the third match on Thursday.

In the selection table, UAE is at the top with 4 points after winning two matches in a row. Nepal, Bhutan and Hong Kong have added 2-2 points each.

Earlier, Nepal had lost the first match by six wickets to Hong Kong.

Home team UAE, Nepal, Bhutan, Kuwait, Hong Kong and Malaysia are competing in the Asia selection of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. One team from the above mentioned will quality for the world selection.

Before the selection of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, Nepal had played a three-match T20 series against Qatar in which Nepal won the series.
