KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) is holding village/municipal conventions in Kailali district from today.
The municipal convention is starting in all the 13 municipalities from today following the conclusion of the ward conventions that began in the district on November 13.
Yagya Raj Upadhyaya has filed his candidacy for the post of president of Dhangadhi Sube Metropolitan City, the only sub metropolitan city in the Sudurpashchim Pradesh.
Upadhyaya, who started his career from Nepal Student’s Union, is the municipal secretary. Similarly, former General Secretary of Kailali Chamber of Commerce Industry Rupesh Swar has shown his interest in the same post.
Pahal Bikram Chanda and Mohan Sadu in Gauriganga municipality, Kaliram Chaudhari in Ghodaghodi municipality, Indra Kunwar in Lamkichuha municipality and Bhakta Bahadur Chalaune’s team are competing in the elections.
Publicity committee coordinator of Nepali Congress Nripa Sunar said efforts are underway to hold the conventions through consensus.
