KATHMANDU: District Administration Office (DAO), Dhanusha, has issued a prohibitory order after a clash saying that slogans, processions and riots were held with an aim to disrupt the communal harmony.
Earlier Saturday, two different groups of people clashed over the issue of religion in Janakpur.
Police fired seven rounds of tear gas to control the situation after the clash ensued at Deupura, Rupaitha, Janakpur Sub-Metropolitan City-20. The police intervened after it got information that different groups of people were trying to disrupt the communal harmony.
Some security personnel were injured in the clash, said SP Basanta Rajaure at District Police Office, Dhanusha. He said police fired seven rounds of tear gas to control the situation.
Keeping in mind the tense situation, the DAO issued the prohibitory order in the affected area.
According to the Dhanusha DAO, the order will remain in force till 10 pm Sunday.
