Labor Minister Shrestha calls to work to materialize martyrs’ dream



DAMAULI: A memorial building has been built at Bandipur Rural Municipality-1 in Tanahun district to commemorate the contribution of late martyr Shovakanta Pokharel. Bandipur Rural Municipality provided Rs 1 million in assistance for the construction of the memorial building.

Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security Krishna Kumar Shrestha inaugurated the building amidst a function here Sunday. Kamal Narayan Khadgi, a local resident, provided a land plot of three ana for the building construction.

Pokharel was killed by the security forces in the Kilo Serra-2 Operations in May 1998 on the bank of Seti river near Dharampani in Bandipur.

Inaugurating the building, Minister Shrestha stressed the need for working to materialize the dreams of martyrs. It would be a true tribute to martyrs only if their dreams were materialized. On a different note, Minister vowed to support for the development of Tanahun and Bandipur in particular. “I have nothing to do with personal greed. I will always work for people,” he said.

On the occasion, Sita Pokharel, Bandipur Rural Municipality’s Purna Singh Thapa, CPN-Unified Socialist politburo member Pratap Lal Shrestha and others expressed their opinions in memory of martyr Pokharel.
