Two pedestrians killed in Hetauda



MAKAWANPUR: Two pedestrians died and four others have sustained injuries when a passenger bus hit them along the East-West highway near Newarpani of Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City-19 on Saturday night.

The deceased are 20-year-old Suraj Bista and 34-year-old Prem Bahadur Singh Thakuri of Newarpani, Hetauda-19, Deputy Superintendent Jayashwor Rimal of the District Police Office said.

The injured are Sangam Nepali, Nisha Moktan, Tulasa Bista and Laxmi Gurung. The injured are receiving treatment at Hetauda and Bharatpur hospitals.

The bus with registration number, Bagmati Province 03-001 Kha 0936, hit a group of pedestrians who were going for the Deusi Bhailo cultural program.

Irate locals set the bus on fire, completely destroying it. The bus driver is absconding and police have mounted a search for him.
