33-yr-old held for ‘killing wife and daughter’



ILAM: Police have arrested a man on the charge of murdering his wife and daughter in Deumai rural municipality in Ilam district.

Kamal Tamang, 33, has been arrested after his wife Sita Tamang, 34, and his 16-year-old daughter Shiksha Tamang died while ‘warding off evil spirts through the power of shamanism’.

According to SP Nabin Raj Rai of District Police Office, Ilam, Kamal bit them on their various parts including necks while practicing shamanism which led to their deaths.

Kamal’s wife and daughter had been ill and often used to faint. Police said they are investigating the case after taking Kamal into police custody.
