Minister directs CTEVT to produce qualified workforce

KATHMANDU: Minister for Education, Science, and Technology Devendra Poudel on Thursday inspected the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) in Sanothimi, Bhaktapur.

Also CTEVT Chairperson, on the occasion directed the authorities to distribute affiliation based on necessity beyond pressure from political leaders, lawmakers, or anybody else.

Stressing the need to head towards socialism by linking the workforce with production, he underscored the need for the CTEVT to become self-reliant. “CTEVT as a source of production, employment and knowledge should produce qualified human resources through proper coordination.”

He pledged to carry out reforms in the CTEVT curriculum and address the problems it has been facing.

On the occasion, Minister of State for Education Bodhmaya Kumari Yadav said that there is a need for all community schools across the country to run technical education.

Education secretary Ram Prasad Thapaliya pointed out the need for equipping the CTEVT with additional workforces as it is compelled to run 62 educational institutions with the same human resources designed for 14 schools in 2052 BS.

e also stressed the need for reforming the CTEVT curriculum to suit changing times.

CTEVT Vice-Chairperson Khagendra Adhikari said that the CTEVT has put forward the concept of materializing aspirations of the state regarding its development. He demanded addressing the human resource crunch faced by the institute.
