Kolkata defeats Bangalore by 4 wickets to enter IPL qualifiers



KATHMANDU: Kolkata Night Riders has entered the qualifiers of the Indian Premier League (IPL) Twenty20 cricket tournament.

Kolkata entered the qualifiers by defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore by four wickets in the eliminator held in Sharjah on Monday night.
Chasing the 139-run target given by Bangalore, Kolkata reached the target in 19.4 overs by losing six wickets. Kolkata’s Subman Gill made highest 29 runs followed by Sunil Narine with 26 runs and Venkatesh Lyer with 26 runs.

Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Bangalore had notched up 138 runs in 20 overs losing seven wickets.

Bangalore’s captain Virat Kohli made highest 39 runs followed by Devdutt Padikkal with 21 runs while Glenn Maxwell secured 15 runs.
Kolkata’s Sunil Narine took four wickets followed by Lockie Ferguson with two wickets.

Kolkata, now, will take on Delhi Capitals in the second qualifiers. The winner will enter the final.
