KATHMANDU: CPN-Maoist Center Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has ruled out any power sharing with judiciary in the recent expansion of Cabinet.

Stating that Gajendra Hamal has been appointed as a minister from the ruling Nepali Congress (NC) quota Saturday, the former Prime Minister said that there is no need to make it an issue.

Talking to media in Chitwan today, he defended Hamal’s appointment as a minister stating that the constitution has a provision to appoint a non-lawmaker as a minister for six months. “In the past, there have been examples of assigning non-lawmakers as ministers. This is not the first case”.

On another note, he said that the incumbent government was at work to save the lives of the people by providing them with COVID-19 vaccines. Other issues prioritized by the government are to proceed development activities and stalled bills, he said.

On the issue of disputed Lipulek, Kalapani and Limpiyadhura, he said, “We are the one who in the past, too, raised the issue and was in favor of presenting the issue at parliament. Now the issue has also been incorporated in the government’s policies and programs.”

On MCC, he said that the subject requires national consensus and its amendment. “The issue cannot be endorsed without national consensus and its amendment.”

He accused main opposition CPN-UML of unnecessarily obstructing the parliament reasoning that it has no moral and political right to do so. On a different note, he said that a political alliance would be formed to compete in the next elections in Chitwan district.
