UML protests continues in HoR, House postponed in eight minutes

Next meeting scheduled for Friday



KATHMANDU: The main opposition CPN-UML continued its protest against the Speaker and 14 defecting lawmakers including Madhav Kumar Nepal and Jhala Nath Khanal on Tuesday’s session of the House of Representatives (HoR).

As soon as the HoR meeting started, the main opposition party lawmakers started chanting slogans and stood in protest.

After the obstruction at a meeting held at the Federal Parliament Building in New Baneshwor, Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota urged the opposition party to create an environment conducive to running the parliament.

However, when the UML protest continued, Law Minister Gyanendra Bahadur Karki submitted the annual progress report of the National Dalit Commission, 2019-20.

The Speaker postponed the meeting till Friday as the UML’s protest continued even after the frequent requests from him.
