Two arrested for extorting money ensuring facilitation on vehicle license activities

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested two middlemen from the Transportation Management Office, Ekantakuna, Lalitpur on Sunday.

According to SSP Janak Bhattarai of Metropolitan Police, Suman Tamang, 30, of Nakhipot and Suraj Gupta, 23, of Kusunti have been arrested for extorting money from the beneficiaries at Transportation Management Office, Ekantakuna, Lalitpur.

The arrested had been taking money promising to make the customers pass the written test, arrange fast trials, renew them, make recommendations and extorting money.

SSP Bhattarai informed that they were arrested from the office premises while bargaining with the service recipients.

A team of policemen in plain clothes has been deployed from the victim’s help cell of the branch and is running an action campaign by becoming a service recipient.

The arrested persons have been handed over to the Metropolitan Police Circle, Satdobato for further investigation.
