KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has refused to issue an interim order against writs relating to the ordinance on Amendment of Acts relating to Political Parties and the Election Commission’s (EC) decision to register Madhav Kumar Nepal led CPN-Unified Socialist party.
The constitutional bench comprising Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana, and Justices Deepak Karki, Mira Khadka, Ishwor Prasad Khatiwada and Hari Krishna Karki has directed to call both parties to the court for further discussion.
The Bench, however, refused to issue any interim order on Friday.
Earlier, advocate Shree Kant Baral had filed a writ petition on August 20 alleging that the ordinance on political parties was brought by deliberately skipping the parliament.
SC has issued a show cause order against the defendant of the case.
Advocate Baral had argued that EC should revoke the newly formed CPN-Unified Socialist party and validate CPN-UML’s action taken against 14 defecting lawmakers.
