NA squad reaches India to participate in Suryakiran military training



KATHMANDU:  A squad of Nepali Army (NA) has reached India to participate in the 15th series of Suryakiran military training organized by the Indian Army.

The Suryakiran military training will be held at Pithauragadh in India from September 20 to October 4.

According to Santosh Ballav Paudel, the Spokesperson of the Nepal Army, 300 NA personnel led by a Lieutenant Colonel have been sent to participate in the training.  Similarly, 350 army personnel are participating in the training from the Indian side.

Both Nepal and India have been conducting such kind of military training in turns ever year. However, it was not conducted due to COVID-19 last year. Earlier, Nepal had organized 14th series of the military training.

In the battalion level training organized at Saljhandi in Nepal, skills and arts of warfare had taught to the participants.

As many as 300 Indian armies from the infantry division had participated in the training. The equal number Nepal Army personnel had taken in the training from the Nepal side.

According to the Directorate of Public Relations and Information, the exercise is being organized to exchange theoretical, practical and special experiences of the Nepal Army and the Indian Army in the joint military exercise.

Military exercises include counter-insurgency, jungle warfare, natural disasters and counter-terrorism using helicopters.

The joint military exercise called Suryakiran between Nepal and India has been taking place since 2067 BS.
