One arrested with illegal red panda hides



KATHMANDU: Police have arrested Lokesh Pariyar, 19, of Barekot Rural Municipality of Jajarkot with illegal hides of red panda on Sunday morning.

Police arrested him acting on a tip-off that Pariyar was in Nalgad Municipality-5 of Jajarkot to sell the prohibited contraband, said DSP Madhu Kumar Thapa.

DSP Thapa said they recovered two red panda hides of varying length from him. One of the hides was 42 inch long and another was 22 inch long.

Further investigation into the incident is underway, police said.
