Samajbadi Party says it stands by “One China Policy”

KATHMANDU: The Samajbadi Party Nepal has said the party’s attention has been drawn about the news reports, which said that party’s lawmaker Pradeep Yadav participated in a program at Latvian capital, Riga.

Issuing a statement on Wednesday, party Chairman Upendra Yadav clarified that the party has neither the knowledge of his participation, not had the party given the permission to attend the program.

The statement said Yadav’s visit to Latvia was entirely in his personal capacity and does not reflect the party’s position.

Chairman Yadav has, in the statement, said the party would take appropriate disciplinary action if Yadav fails to convince the party.

“The Socialist Party Nepal is committed to Nepal’s present foreign policy enshrined in Nepal’s constitution, UN Charter, non-aligned and the five principles of peaceful coexistence for its sovereignty and independence thereby maintaining cordial relations with all friendly nations particularly with its immediate neighbors in addressing each other’s basic national interest and sensitivity,” the statement said.

The party said it unequivocally respects and stands in favor of Nepal’s “One China Policy and not allowing any anti-China activities in its soil.”
