NEW DELHI: India has set up a surgical strike special force – the first-of-its-kind special operations division, India media reports said.

The special force comprises elite commandos from all three security services -Army, Navy and the Air Force.

Reports said this has been aimed at boosting India’s firepower for more frequent surgical strikes such as tactical operations and secret missions.

According to reports, a Major General rank officer from Army’s Special Forces has been appointed to head the new division, which would soon start functioning.

The special force will be carrying out operations across the borders, as well as specific anti-terror missions. (Agencies)
