Police nab six fake certificate holders

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested six people for submitting fake educational certificates to apply for visa processing for the United States.

According to the Metropolitan Crime Division of police, the arrested are Sumit Ratna Gubhaju of Palpa, Amar Bahadur Katuwal of Morang, Naresh KC of Nawalparasi, Laxman Pathak of Nawalpur, Deep Bista of Kavre and Sohili Shahi of Teku, Kathmandu.

The arrested had obtained the fake educational certificates to apply for visa to the United States. They had won the EDV lottery and had been eligible for visa but for their Grade 12 certificates.

The police caged the alleged in coordination with the US Embassy in Maharajgunj, Kathmandu.

The source said that the search and further investigation is underway for other persons involved in making educational certificates.

The arrested persons have been handed over to the Metropolitan Police Complex, Kathmandu for necessary action on the offense related to Article 25 of the National Criminal Code, 2018.
