Education and Health Committee directs govt to conduct Grade 12 exam at earliest



KATHMANDU: The  Education and Health Committee of the House of Representatives (HoR) on Tuesday directed the government to conduct the exam of Grade 12 at the earliest.

The parliamentary committee lead by lawmaker Jay Puri Gharti instructed the government to make necessary preparation to conduct the Grade 12 exam at the earliest.

“After consultation with the stakeholders we have concluded that the examination CCMC’s recommendation to postpone Grade 12 exam was wrong,” Gharti said, adding, “We have directed the government to make arrangements to conduct the exam at the earliest as the delay can have multiple impacts.”

According to sources, NEB has planned to conduct the annual exams of Grade 12 after being assured that most of the students have already been inoculated and the rest will be vaccinated soon.

Earlier, NEB had postponed the exam scheduled to commence from August 15 few days before the exam.

There are more than 374 thousand students preparing to appear in Grade 12 exam this year.

NEB’s Controller of Examinations Krishna Prasad Sharma informed that all preparations for the exams have been made and the board is ready to conduct the examination physically.

“All logistic preparations at the Board is over, now we are discussing on the suitable date for the exam,” Sharma said on Monday, adding, “The date will be fixed after getting approval from the COVID-19 Crisis Management Center.”

NEB, while postponing the exam, had announced it would publish the schedule at least 15 days before the exam date.
