KATHMANDU: A probe conducted by Nepal police has revealed the involvement of the police in defaming the journalist by putting illegal drugs in his motorbike.

Rauthat police had arrested journalist Mohammad Mojubullah with the drug nitrate on August 16.

However, a recent investigation has revealed that drugs were found on his motorcycle while he was having lunch at the hotel.

The District Police Office, Rautahat had started the investigation after the video of the drug being placed on the closed circuit (CC) camera became public. It has been confirmed that Sub Inspector of Police Uday Yadav and police constable Manoj Shah got the drugs placed in the journo’s bike.

The policemen are found to have done so under the instruction of another journalist who had been in bad terms with formerly accused Mojubullah.

The police had used Sub-Inspector Yadav’s relative Dhiraj Yadav to put the drugs in the bike.

Police headquarters is preparing to dismiss policemen duo Yadav and Sah,  a source close to Nepal Police said.

The source said that further investigation is underway.
