UML Chair Oli claims leader Nepal won’t have 10 percent support for party registration

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairperson KP Oli has claimed Madhav Kumar Nepal would not have even 10 percent of lawmakers or central members for registration of new party.

Addressing a special gathering of party cadres in Bhaktapur Thursday, Oli said leader Nepal would struggle to meet the required 20 percent support required for splitting the UML and registration of a new party. He added leader Nepal could not manage the required number even though the ordinance on political parties slashed the threshold from 40 to 20 percent.

“They have reduced the threshold from 40 percent to 20 percent. That too either in parliamentary party or the central committee. If we work a little harder, we will limit leader Nepal within 10 percent and his party won’t even be registered,” said the UML chair.
