Pokhara Metropolis gets health supplies from China



KATHMANDU: The Pokhara Metropolitan City has received health supplies required in the handling of COVID-19 from the Nanning city of China.

The assistance is worth two million rupees.

Pokhara and Nanning have sisterly relations. The supplies brought in the coordination of the Pokhara Tourism Council and China Overseas Association were handed to Deputy Mayor Manjudevi Gurung amidst a program here today.

On the occasion, Deputy Mayor Gurung said the Metropolis has relations with 13 international cities, and of the nine are with the cities of China.

The Pokhara Metropolis and Nanning enjoy sisterly relations since January 10, 2018, and expressed hope the health assistance would help the local government act against the pandemic.

As she said, the local government would send a letter to the Nanning chief expressing gratitude for the assistance and the Nanning officials would be invited for the Pokhara Visit at a convenient time.
The received assistance would be distributed to hospitals on a need basis.

Council President Gopi Bahadur Bhattarai informed that the health supplies include five oxygen concentrators, 20,000 medical masks, 500 PPE sets, and 50,000 pairs of medical gloves.
