NA members demand immediate expansion of Council of Ministers

KATHMANDU: The National Assembly (NA) members speaking in a special session of the Upper House today urged the government to expand the Council of Ministers soon.

They demanded the government accord top priority to the prevention and control of natural hazards and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr Bimala Rai Poudyal seeking immediate expansion of the government urged the government to be accountable to the parliament. Dr Khimlal Devkota stressed the need of maintaining transparency in the government performance and coming up with programs capable of bringing smiles to the faces of senior citizens.

Similarly, Sher Bahadur Kunwar demanded the government investigate the incident about the missing of a man while crossing the Mahakali River via a tuin (wire bridge) in Darchula keeping the dignity of the nation high.

Jitendra Narayan Dev advised the government to work as per the spirit of past movements and the people’s sentiments.
“Agenda such as federalism, inclusion, republic and social transformation will be successful if the existing government alliance goes long,” Chakra Prasad Snehi argued, adding that though the Nepal-India ties were defined as Roti-Beti relations, the practice was different.

Khem Kumar BK was of the opinion that the dissolution of the House of Representatives twice was an attack on people’s sovereignty.
