UN-mission related exam paper ‘leak’ incident: Police investigation in final stage

KATHMANDU: The investigation into the incident of leaking of pre-SAT question papers meant for the exam for selection in the UN peacekeeping mission has reached at final stage.

According to sources, the investigation committee led by DIG Basanta Lama has booked three dozen police personnel into the investigation and brought the investigation to the final stage.

“We have reached the final stage of the investigation in the issue. So far, we have questioned 30 people, including two DSPs,” DIG Lama, who is the coordinator of the investigation committee, said.

According to a member of the committee, DSP Basudev Pathak of the UN branch, DSP Rupesh Khadka of the training center, Inspector Dinesh Pun and others are being investigated on suspicion of involvement. DSP Pathak and Khadka are examinees.

The examination was conducted at the Police Headquarters and seven Province Police Offices on July 30 and 31. A total of 2,400 candidates ranging from the recruit to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) participated in the examination.

According to Police Spokesperson SSP Basanta Bahadur Kunwar, the question paper was leaked. The investigation has found out that the question paper was leaked two days prior to the exam date.
