TIA sees highest number of intl flights on Wednesday



KATHMANDU: A total of 29 international flights, the highest since the enforcement of prohibitory orders imposed to curb second wave of coronavirus, are being made from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) on Wednesday.

According to Pratap Babu Tiwari, general manager of TIA, the airport has seen the highest number of international flights since the bans imposed to control wide-spreading second wave of coronavirus in Nepal since its inception.

He informed that a Sichuan Airlines flight will arrive in Kathmandu from Chendu on Wednesday on a cargo flight and Jazeera Airways will operate regular flights to Nepal from Kuwait.

Similarly, Himalayan Airlines is flying to Doha of Qatar, Dammam of Saudi Arabia, Dubai of United Arab Emirates and Nanning of China. Of these the flights to China is a cargo flights.

Ethiopian Airlines has flown, with UN staffs, from Delhi to Kathmandu in the morning.

Qatar Airways and Fly Dubai are operating regular one flights each.

Likewise, Singapore Airlines will arrive in Kathmandu for cargo flights. A Nepal Airlines (NA) flight has arrived in Kathmandu from Malaysia today. NA planes are flying to Delhi, Dubai and Doha. Korean Air is flying from Korea to Kathmandu.

With the government plan to expand the inoculation programs and the country opening for international flights, the shrinking tourism business is expected to get revival gradually.
