KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress Spokesperson Bishwo Prakash Sharma has urged Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand to investigate more concretely so as to find and nab the culprit of Nirmal Pant’s rape and murder case.

It has been three years since Pant, a 13-year-old girl from Kanchanpur was raped and murdered. However, those involved in the murder have not been identified and brought to book yet.

“The rape and murder case of Nirmala Pant has passed three years today. I would like to draw the attention of the Prime Minister and the Home Minister,” NC spokesperson Sharma said on his Twitter post on Sunday, adding, “We raised our voice when we were in opposition; we had questions. Now, we have the responsibility to fulfill the responsibility.”

He said that the country has been witnessing many incidents of violence, rape and murder against girls and women; and now it is high time to work for social transformation with a common determination.

“Along with offering justice to Nirmala Pant, let’s increase special vigilance so that no one has to suffer such fate in the days ahead,” Sharma wrote.

Kanchanpur’s Nirmala Pant was killed after being raped on July 26, 2018.
