J&K police shoot down drone, recovers 5 kg IED



NEW DELHI: The Jammu and Kashmir Police in India shot down a hexacopter drone in Akhnoor area of Jammu district on Friday morning.

The drone was shot down some 8 km inside the International Borders,, India Today reported.

Police have also recovered 5 kg of an improvised explosive device (IED) which was to be assembled and to be used by terrorists, police said.

Meanwhile, police have initiated a probe whether terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) is behind the drone activity and using this modus operandi for a terror attack like in previous cases, the report said.

The J&K DGP Dilbag Singh has directed officers to “remain extra alert” as terrorist groups are continuously trying to use drones for terrorist activities.
