PM Deuba secures vote of confidence in Parliament

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has secured the vote of confidence in parliament Sunday.

Prime Minister Deuba garnered 165 votes in his favor and 83 against in Sunday’s second session of the House of Representatives. Likewise, one lawmaker remained neutral.

A total of 249 lawmakers were present in the Parliament in Sunday’s voting.

Deuba needed the support of at least 138 lawmakers to win the parliament’s confidence.

PM Deuba got the vote of confidence from Nepali Congress (NC), CPN (Maoist Centre), Janata Samajwadi Party, Nepal, and the Rastriya Janamorcha.

Likewise, some lawmakers of the CPN (UML) also voted in favor of PM Deuba.

Speaker Sapkota announced that PM Deuba got the vote of confidence in accordance with Article 76 (6) of the Constitution of Nepal.

The HoR meeting has been postponed until July 23.
