KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari administered the oath of office and secrecy to newly-appointed Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba Tuesday evening.

Deuba, who is also President of the Nepali Congress (NC) and leader of the NC parliamentary party, took the oath of office and secrecy at the President’s Office, Shital Niwas.

Deuba was ordered to be appointed by Supreme Court on Monday, giving a verdict on a petition filed by 146 lawmakers, including Deuba. Meanwhile, the President’s Office has received flak for not mentioning the article concerned by which Deuba is appointed.

In the meantime, the newly appointed PM has picked NC Chief Whip Bal Krishna Khand as Home Minister and former finance minister Gyanendra Bahadur Karki as Law Minister.

Also, leader Janardan Sharma from the Maoist Center is assigned to lead the Ministry of Finance and Pampha Bhusal to Energy Ministry.

All the ministers are taking the oath this evening.

Meanwhile, the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) could not decide as to who will be ministers in the Deuba-led government and is said to recommend names in the days ahead.
