NC leaders Nidhi, Koirala and Singh intensify talks as Gen Convention nears



KATHMANDU:  Nepali Congress (NC) Vice President Bimalendra Nidhi, General Secretary Dr. Shashank Koirala and former General Secretary Prakash Man Singh are holding a lunch meeting at leader Singh’s residence in Chaksibari Tuesday afternoon.

With the14th General Convention of the party just around the, second rung leaders Dr. Koirala, Nidhi and Singh have intensified talks in a bid to strike a deal on the upcoming leadership issue.

All three leaders, with their family legacy in the party politics, are vying for the post of party President in the forthcoming mega event of the party.

Dr. Koirala is the son of NC leader BP Koirala whereas Singh and Nidhi are the sons of late leaders Ganesh Man Singh and Mahendra Narayan Nidhi, respectively.

Political analysts, who are keenly observing the frequent meetings between these leaders from two different camps in the party, have started interpreting the meeting as a harbinger of the arrival of new group in the party.

The 14th general convention of the NC has been scheduled for September 1-4 in the Kathmandu Valley.
