KATHMANDU: Police have arrested four children who escaped from a juvenile home in Biratnagar.

The three, who had been absconding since Saturday after jumping from the third floor, were arrested from a canal in front of Nobel Hospital in Biratnagar on Sunday morning.

Police had arrested one of the four delinquents from Biratnagar on Saturday morning. The child hailed from Solukhumbu.

A special team deployed from Province 1 Police Office, Biratnagar had arrested the four.

The four had been taken to detention center on various allegations. Three fugitives are jailed in the rape case and one is a juvenile delinquent in the offence related to the arms and ammunition.

The juvenile delinquents arrested on Sunday are from Sankhuwasabha, Udaypur and Jhapa.

According to security sources, they had jumped from the third floor of the correctional facility and fled at around 2:55 pm on Saturday.

Taking advantage of the weak physical infrastructure of the detention facility, two of the juvenile delinquents had taken to heels a year ago.

They were also arrested five days after running away from the center.

Child rights activists have been criticizing the government for the poor infrastructure, lack of proper care and overcrowd at the delinquent’s center.
