Flood in rivers obstruct Tulsipur-Ghorai-Lamahi road, one woman missing

KATHMANDU: The Tulsipur-Ghorahi-Lamahi road section has been obstructed due to floods in the rivers after continuous rains and one woman has gone missing after floodwaters washed her away.

According to Dang District Police Office (DPO), floods in Patrekhola, Hapur and Sewar rivers obstructed the Tulsipur-Ghorahi road section. The flow of water in Patrekhola is the most.

Similarly, flood in Sisne Khola has affectd the Ghorahi-Lamahi road section, said Dang DPO Spokesperson DSP Mukunda Prasad Rijal. Due to the floods, no vehicles, big or small, have been able to ply the roads. Rijal also urged to be careful as the flow of water in rivers and streams has surged.

Lack of bridges over Ghorahi’s Sisne Khola and Patrekhola has hampered people’s mobility. The locals have been facing problems to cross rivers as the construction of bridges has been in limbo for six years.

A woman has gone missing when she was crossing the Bagalekhola in Ghorahi-11 Saturday afternoon, police said. The identity of the woman has yet be ascertained and a search is underway.
