Police arrest 106 engineers from Maitighar Mandala

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested 106 engineers and sub-engineers, employed by the National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) after the 2015 earthquake, from Maitighar Mandala, in Kathmandu, Friday.

The NRA engineers and sub-engineers gathered at Maitighar Mandala demanding an extension of their contracts.

SSP Ashok Singh of Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Range said the protesting engineers were arrested as they took to the streets amid the ongoing prohibitory order imposed to curb Covid-19.

NRA had extended the contract of engineers two years ago.

The engineers resorted to agitation Friday seeking a second extension of their contracts.
