Kathmandu district attorney releases landlord Pradhan arrested on “caste discrimination” case



KATHMANDU: Kathmandu District Attorney’s office has released Saraswati Pradhan, who was arrested on allegation of discrimination on the basis of caste against Rupa Sunar.

Earlier, Kathmandu Police had presented her to the district attorney’s office so as to sue her on the crime of promoting caste discrimination.

Various Newar communities had protested against at Babrmahal seeking Pradhan’s release.

Pradhan was arrested on Sunday after Sunar lodged a complaint alleging caste discrimination when she went to ask for a room for rent.

Sunar runs a popular program Ukali-Orali on Image Television.
