Youth arrested for raping woman at gunpoint in Dang

DANG: A youth has been arrested in Lamahi of Dang district on charge of looting and raping a woman showing her a sharp weapon.

According to Lamahi Police, Kiran Budha, 21, has been nabbed for raping a young woman returning in a tipper from Kamanpur based cement factory.

The rapist, along with his two companions had stopped the tipper; held the driver under gunpoint and raped his driver and a relative travelling in the tipper.

“We were returning after dropping raw materials for the tipper at the cement factory,” the police quoted the tipper driver, “They held me pointed the knife looted gold ornaments, mobile and Rs 45000 cash and raped the women as well.”

The incident took place at around 10 PM on Sunday.

Two other youths involved in the incident are absconding.

The search for the other two is underway, the police said.

At the state’s indifference towards the incidents of such crimes and protection of the criminal rather than bringing them under law, the incidents of rape and murder are increasing in Nepal since last few years.
