Woman electrocuted by electric fence setup to bar tusker



KATHMANDU: A woman has got electrocuted by electric fence setup to bar tuskers in Jhapa.

According to District Police Office, Jhapa, Bishnu Maya Baskota, 48, of Buddha Shanti Rural Municipality in Jhapa district was electrocuted on an electric fence setup to prevent the tusker from coming into the human settlements.

She was hurt after coming in touch with the naked electric wire planted in a farm near her house at 5:00 AM on Tuesday morning.

The District Police Office, Jhapa, said that she breathed her last during treatment at Birta City Hospital in Birtamod.

Earlier, four persons including two from Buddha Shanti Rural Municipality had died of electrocution from the electric wire planted to chase away the tuskers in the district, according to Division Forrest Office, Jhapa.
