Ruling UML to go on vacate against the SC order

KATHMANDU: Ruling CPN-UML has decided to seek ‘vacate’ order against Supreme Court’s ruling to reinstate four Karnali Province lawmakers on Thursday.

According to UML leader Subash Chandra Nembang, the party is going to the Supreme Court against the interim order issued by a single bench of justice Prakash Man Singh Raut on Thursday.

Issuing an interim order after hearing on the writ petition filed by four Karnali Province Assembly lawmakers including Prakash Jwala, the Supreme Court had said on Thursday that the Central Committee’s right cannot be exercised by General Convention Organizing Committee; hence, the writ petitioner lawmakers should be reinstated to their posts.

Dismissing all committees elected from the ninth general convention of the party, Chairman KP Oli had unilaterally formed the party’s tenth general convention organizing committee few months back. The committee had been warning to take disciplinary action against the lawmakers raising voice against Chairman Oli’s decision.

SC’s Thursday ruling is believed to be a hitch to the arbitrary rule of Prime Minister Oli in his party.
