STC, FMTC to provide essential food items during prohibitory order



KATHMANDU: Kathmandu District Administration Office (DAO) has authorized Salt Trading Corporation (STC) and Food Management and Trading Company (FMTC) to provide essential food items to the public during the week-long prohibitory order that will come into effect from Friday.

Issuing a notice Thursday, Kathmandu DAO provided contact numbers of representatives of STC and FMTC who can be contacted in case people need essential food items. The notice stated that the two companies would provide service through a mobile van.

The government is tightening restrictions from Friday to contain the coronavirus. This time around even retail and departmental stores will remain closed. Valley DAO’s Tuesday decided to extend the prohibitory order with stricter measures.

The DAO issued the notice after taking wide-criticism for closing down retail and department stores.
