PM Oli to visit Switzerland on June 10

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli will travel to Switzerland on June 10 to participate in the 108th session of the International Labor Organization (ILO), sources close to him said on Sunday.

PM Oli will attend the centenary session that will take place from 10-21 June in Geneva. He is scheduled to attend the event for two days — 10-12 June.

The Geneva conference is also called an international parliament of labor. The conference will craft and adopt international labor standards in the form of conventions and recommendations.

Likewise, other tasks include supervising the application of conventions and recommendations at the national level.

Delegates from across the world will explore the course of social progress in the world, which will then pass resolutions that provide guidelines for the ILO’s general policy and future activities.

Sources said even though the visit has been confirmed, it is yet to be endorsed by the Cabinet.

The Prime Minister is also likely to visit France and Italy during his Europe visit. However, this has not been confirmed yet.

Meanwhile, PM Oli is leaving for Vietnam on May 9 at the invitation of Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyn Xuan Phuc. From Vietnam, he will leave for Cambodia on May 13 at the invitation of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen.
