Sri Lanka’s authorities urge people to surrender swords, knives

COLOMBO: Sri Lankan authorities on Sunday urged people to surrender swords and big knives following the deadly April 21 bombings, media reports said.

The Sri Lanka police urged the public to surrender such weapons at the nearest police stations by today.

Likewise, the authorities have also asked people not to park vehicles after 1 p.m. on Sunday near any schools in Colombo. Police said they are carrying out ‘special search operations’ in those areas. (Agencies)
