NAWALPARASI: A young man injured in Armed Police Force firing near Nepal-India border in Nawalparasi West has died while undergoing treatment in Butwal.
According to DSP Raju Lama, the spokesperson of District Police Office, Nawalparasi West, Avinash Rajbhar, 22, of Pratappur Rural Municipality-6 was injured in a clash that took place between locals and the Armed Police Force at the Indian border checkpoint on Wednesday.
The injured youth, who was shot in the thigh, was rushed to Butwal City Hospital for treatment.
According to police, the clash started when four or five youths heading towards the Indian border were stopped by the police for inquiry.
The locals who were going to India from Nathui Naka (Vanakatti) in Susta -5 were stopped by the Armed Police Force deployed in the area.
Initially, the armed police had an argument with the people who came in a group of five or six people.
However, when the youths refused to abide by the APF instructions and started assaulting the police, the police were forced to fire in the air.
According to the Armed Police Force, Sub-Inspector Shankar Budhathoki was injured on head in the attack.
